Security

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recommends arriving to the airport two hours in advance of your flight departure time for domestic travel and three hours for international flights. Allow ample time for parking, checking your luggage, obtaining a boarding pass and longer-than-average wait times during peak travel periods.

Checkpoint Opening Times

All gates are accessible from either checkpoint, simply use the Concourse Connector after going through either security checkpoint and proceed to your designated gate.

Checkpoint A: 3:30 a.m.
Checkpoint B: 4:15 a.m

TSA Pre✓™ passengers should proceed to Checkpoint A. TSA Pre✓™ passengers who prefer to receive screening on checkpoint B, can: receive expedited screening, leave shoes and light outerwear on and remove 3-1-1 compliant liquids, gels and laptops.

As part of TSA screening assistance, TSA Cares is a helpline that provides travelers with disabilities, medical conditions and other special circumstances additional assistance during the security screening process.

Information on Passenger Support

TSA Pre✓™ Application Program

TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening program that allows qualifying travelers in select screening lanes to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belts and to keep their laptop in a case and 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on.

IND is the site of the first TSA Pre✓™ Application Center, which is located in Civic Plaza next to the Concourse B exit. To enroll or inquire about the TSA Pre✓™ program, please visit http://tsa.gov/precheck or call 1-866-289-9673

What to Expect

Please be prepared to have your shoes, carry-on bags, jackets, pockets and all personal possessions thoroughly searched by TSA officers at airport security checkpoints. For additional information on what items can be packed in a carry on, please review the 3-1-1 Rule information.

Never leave bags unattended in an airport. Immediately report unattended bags, luggage, boxes or containers to security personnel. If unattended bags are discovered, operations cease until they are cleared by security, which causes delays for all passengers.
